nature | connection | movement

I am an ocean lover, communicator, creative and collaborator.

My interests span the breadth of the ocean and include connection, conservation, governance, blue regenerative economy, advocacy and sovereignty.

From an MSc in marine biology to seven years in natural history film-making, my current work focuses on water-based storytelling, photography, and filmmaking.

I believe that human health is in relationship with ocean health, and I aim to inspire humans to live harmoniously and in reciprocity with our homes.

My work is from the outside in - through visual storytelling and grassroots myth-making my desire is to share important stories of the incredible beauty and resilience of our world and the people taking care of it - & from the inside out - through teaching freediving, breathwork & embodied movement to encourage greater depth with ourselves and therefore the dance of life itself.

Background.

My time in academia gave me a strong foundation of ocean dynamics, ecology and biology of marine life, and allowed time for some noteworthy projects: I created a model to predict when corals might spawn using advanced machine learning techinques, and using mtDNA sequencing discovered a new ecotype of harbour porpoise in the North Atlantic previously unknown to science (publication here).

Moving to filmmaking, I worked on productions for high end natural history and feature documentaries - for series commissioned by Disney+, National Geographic, BBC1, Apple TV, RTE & ARTE - where I developed storytelling, producing & directing skills.

As a qualified HSE Part IV, PADI DM, CCR rEvo diver, and experienced freediver, my experience in the water along with my marine biology background equip me with the skills necessary to be a competent safety diver and director for underwater shoots.

Now.

I’m searching for new opportunities in marine science, communication, policy and advocacy.

I freelance - story, produce, direct, edit - in media, film and documentary. I like to tell stories I believe need to be told, with the hope to inspire, share knowledge, or simply offer beauty.

I’m currently in development with personal short film & photo projects that have an ocean & human-centered story lens. I also shoot freediving events & competitions.
